We need to not only desire something better, but start believing in its possibility, envisioning it, feeling it, and expecting it to happen. We must hold the vision within our heart and mind, believe in its possibility, and take actions aligned with that belief, regardless of external (or internal) skepticism. We don't need to convince anyone else... we simply need to convince ourselves, and then we will have activated our puzzle piece in the game of life.
Here we are into the first week of this new year. Whether we started off the year with hope in our heart or despair, we can still choose our path, our attitude, our perspective. Each day presents us with a new choice...
Welcome to the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025!!! I was speaking with a friend the other day and "complaining" about how time is going by so quickly! The months seem to jump by, and the years too. As I commented on...
As we enter the holiday season and approach the new year, it can be a time of stress for many... whether because of travel plans, shopping frenzy, being with people that you've had "issues" with in the past or that don't "understand you". And even if you don't...
Who are you? I know the "Who am I" question is often posed as an existential one. Yet, in our day to day life, who are we?
Everything we focus on at InnerSelf is to empower you through these times of change and we trust that the changes will bring forth goodness in your life and in the world itself.
We only have one "job" on this earth at this time and that is to add weight to the scale on the side of harmony, love, compassion, helpfulness, gratitude, etc. The scales are in danger of tipping...
It's easy (unfortunately) to get caught up in the same old, same old... attitudes, concepts, beliefs, stories, expectation... Yet, everything is in a constant state of change. We...
Our life is filled with opportunities and tools to help us create the life we dream of. Yet a house does not build itself even if all the materials and tools are laying there. We have to take action. And of course...
When we think of healing, we usually thing of physical ailments... cancer, arthritis, colds/flus, headaches, backaches, etc. etc. Yet, physical healing is just a small part of the healing equation. Healing anything includes more than the physical aspects...
This week, I encourage you to look at everyone and everything as reflecting something within you. We can't change anyone else, but we can "clean up our act" and then suddenly, the world around us will seem to be...
Some days it's cloudy and it rains, and other days the sun shines. And so it is with our life. We can dwell on the "bad weather" we are experiencing, or we can live accordingly and yet look forward to the next sunshiny experience.
The new issue focuses on personal responsibility, and interestingly enough yesterday while I was at my local farmers' market, I overheard someone saying that they personally did not want to have to assume responsibility for anything in their own life. What???
It's time for us to be real, to be true to what we know is right, to be the best loving compassionate person we can be. It's time to stand up for love, for compassion, for kindness. We can choose to bury ourselves in trivial matters...
One thing we all have in common is we all have, or at least had, a mother... thus we also had ancestors. We have a lineage from which we descend. This means we have certain traits we have acquired (skin color, eye color, build, etc.) as well as some personality traits and behaviors that we also have either inherited genetically or through modeled behavior.
In the children's game of tag (or hide-sand-seek), when you become the key player -- the one everyone else must find -- you're told "tag, you're it!". And in life, since we are all key players, we are always under the effect of the "tag, you're it!" energy...
The cover image for this week's InnerSelf Magazine is a picture of a gannet. This bird known for its graceful flight, powerful diving abilities, and strong social connections, can be said to symbolize: grace and focus, nurturing and community, as well as adaptability and resilience. These are all great life lessons for we humans bound to the earth by gravity.
We all have the freedom to start over any time... any day, any minute of the day. Whatever path we find ourselves on... arguing with someone, unhappy about something, we can hit reset...
When we learn to see that everything (and everyone) that comes our way brings a message, a teaching, a way to learn to see life from another perspective, to react differently, we can then traverse each challenge or event with a lot more calm and peace of mind...
Life is a journey... sometimes straightforward, and at other times, with detours, stop signs, yield signs. And though we sometimes think there are short-cuts, they are simply part of the journey.
The world can sometimes seem to be like a whirlwind and we often seem like we're getting caught up in the storm. Yet, we can find ways to reconnect with our inner self, our center, and ground our energies with the earth so we don't get carried away in the whirlwind of energies and emotions that may be swirling all around us.
